Our Story

Creating a Safe, Active Community for Kids

In a world where kids are increasingly glued to screens and faced with limited safe spaces for physical activity, Adam and Anita, both with backgrounds in emergency services, felt a strong calling to make a difference. With their passion for riding, coaching, and community, they recognised a need for a space where young people could not only engage in sports but also cultivate a sense of belonging and camaraderie.

In 2021, Adam and Anita embarked on a dedicated journey to find a suitable location to teach youth how to ride. Their vision was clear: to create a place for aspiring riders, where they could learn, grow, and find their passion. After an extensive search for both indoor and outdoor venues, the perfect opportunity arose in 2023 when a location in Tuncurry became available.

After securing the location,  Adam and Anita reached out to the owner Stephen, of Big Air Bike Park Sydney, happy to inform him that they had finally found a suitable site to build their own Indoor Bike Park. As Big Air Sydney was an established Bike Park, Adam and Anita had spoken to Stephen and they’d envisioned hosting competitions and jam sessions alongside Big Air Sydney, fostering a vibrant community of riders.

However, just weeks prior, tragedy struck. A devastating industrial fire severely damaged the Big Air Sydney facility, leaving it structurally unsound. The owner, Stephen informed Adam that he was faced with the heart wrenching decision to close the his park. With this news, Adam and Anita found themselves in a position to help save the brand they admired.

They reached out to Jason Watts from Universal Ramps who built Big Air Sydney, and together they devised a plan to relocate the ramps from Sydney to Tuncurry and preserve and build on the foundations of Big Air Sydney.

In January 2024, amidst sweat, tears, and determination, Big Air Sydney was meticulously dismantled, packed, and loaded onto a truck bound for the picturesque coastal town of Forster/Tuncurry. Our vision was to create a facility that catered not only to elite athletes but also to beginners eager to learn. We wanted a space that fostered community, provided quality and professionalism, and include a viewing area for spectators.
